Waterfall in Uwajima

Uwajima, Ehime · Before 1922 (Taisho era)

A waterfall listed among Uwajima's famous sights comes down as a thin white thread between dark rocks.

About this photo

Trees cover the upper part of the falls, and along the right edge, a dark wall of rock rises sheer.

Uwajima today has a waterfall whose name is written almost the same way. Ehime Prefecture features it as one of the highlights of a walking path around Sukagawa Dam, describing it as dropping straight down about 30 meters.

Follow the white thread downward, and the water drops into the gaps in a heap of large, pale rocks. Against the dark rock face, that one spot glows bright.
